As someone who has access to technology their entire life, I believe that I am part of Generation Like and participate in the trends that surround it. This documentary is about teens and their obsession with the internet and how it lets them interact with each other. Each like, post, comment, or message on the internet is a big deal with teens all around the world, as somewhere along the way we created this idea that out identity and self worth is surrounded by our internet presents, not our actual being. I do not mind being a part of Generation Like because of the great things that follow this. Society as a whole can transmit so much data is such a short amount of time and there are people who use the internet to get ahead in life to take college classes or get another job. The internet does have the portion of shallow minded people fishing for people to view their content, but it also has those who truly know what good it can do and use it to be better in society. This documentary was created in 2014, which was 8 years ago. I was on the internet at this time and I was just shy of 11 years old. I can say that I did not relate to Generation Like at the time as I do now, so my use of the internet has much less YouTube but much more TikTok. During both times of my life, I remember having experiences with data mining, and reading article or watching videos and a short time after seeing ads for similar content. I did not think much of it as a child, but as I am older it makes me feel less safe on the internet knowing there a way to see what I am searching and for how long.
