Google is one of the most recognized words in the world. Any topic that can expressed in letters is found on Google in a matter of seconds. I believe that millions of people having access to a huge database of knowledge is a good thing, but that does not mean it is perfect. The better side of Google is definitely the academic side, where there are so much research and papers published on pretty much any topic. A Google search could help someone reach professional help for a serious illness or reach a therapist in a moment of struggle. Google can also be the end of an argument about the most random topic between friends. It is also possible to get a job, apply to college, take online classes, buy a house or car, meet new people, and do anything else to better circumstances in life.
With all the good qualities of Google, the bad qualities can be frightening. There is a great amount of crime, such as identity theft, cyberbullying, stalkers, and many others that can start with a Google search.Every search on Google could be tracked and it makes it much harder to figure out if someone has hacked an online account or not, since the purchases are very close to others made on the same account. Websites like Google Maps make it possible to find any address and how long it will take to arrive there. Social media is known for how easy it is for children to get harmful messages from predators. It is also easy to take advantage of how easy it is to find easy information, as children can use it to cheat on their homework or tests. Fake news and exaggerated politics is very easy to find on Google, and it can take a long time to actually find out the truth of the situation.
In conclusion, there are better parts of Google that make it a valuable addition to everyday life. These good attributes outweigh the worse parts, and should be used more often. The worse parts of the search engine are a plague on society, and need to be taken more seriously, especially when someone's life is at stake.
