1. The second I go online anywhere, I am immediately shown many advertisements for items curated to my use of the internet. I have noticed that when I make an internet search for an item, place, or have a question, I will see ads for it in other places. The advertisements are usually targeted towards my interests and places I have been. An example of this is that I have been getting ads for buying tickets to Old Dominion football games, but I do not need those as I am a student with my own access to these tickets. Many promoted posts I see are on Instagram and they have links that immediately out that item into an online shopping cart, so all that has to be done is payment.

2. Some of my searches on Google are just random things that pop into my head. I do not have much interest in meteorology, but I search the weather daily, I get ads for meteorology programs at Virginia Tech, which is useless because attend another college entirely. There are some parts that are accurate, like the clothing and makeup ads I get I do have a tendency to click on because I enjoy those products.

3. One step that I am taking to limit my information on the internet is using trace free websites to search inform action, like DuckDuckGo.com. I try to limit my online shopping because I am not comfortable with having my debit card information in more than one website at a time. I try to only shop on trusted websites, like Amazon, because it is more secure than a website that gives me limited information about what I am purchasing and its shipping information. I am trying to break the habit of clicking on ads because I have noticed that I see many more similar ads after clicking on the first one.
